Office Of Intelligence And Analysis Internship Program – The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness () offers paid internships to undergraduate and graduate students for experience and/or college credit during the fall, spring and summer semesters. Depending on office preference, jobs are done in our Hamilton, West Trenton or Newark offices. Tasks that are part of ongoing projects are assigned to people who work in the workplace so that they can be responsible and contribute, just like our colleagues. Students’ Internship Experiences, How They Want Colleges To Help
Students can choose up to three offices for their professional practice. If the office cannot be selected in the application portal, it means that there is no internship available for that office in the given semester.
Fall and spring programs coincide with college semesters, and the schedule is varied to accommodate full-time students.
The summer training program is a two-month full-time training. Students must register daily from Monday to Friday during this period during their assigned hours (9-5, 8-4, etc.).

No. The office does not pay or provide accommodation or travel expenses. The Hamilton office provides transportation for any field trip. Otherwise, employees are responsible for using public transportation or private vehicles for travel.

Employees work on a variety of different projects depending on the assigned office and current events. Possible purposes include (but are not limited to): analyzing crime or data collected, creating products for the public, attending events, conducting research, supporting operations and monitoring compliance and applicable regulations. Trainees are not guaranteed full-time employment at the end of their training. However, we hired workers for vacant jobs. If positions open up during your training or follow-up, we welcome your application.

Intelligence and Security Challenges Research Summer Study on Hard Security Issues May 30 – August 4, 2023
The Applied Research Intelligence and Security Laboratory () at the University of Maryland, College Park is seeking outstanding undergraduate and graduate students to participate in the Research Intelligence and Security (RISC) Internship Program. This exciting 10-week, paid program pairs students with mentors from SECURITY Consortium member agencies and the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community (IC) and provides an opportunity to support security clearance and consider future work. .
Competitively selected RISC students (RISCers) work in teams with mentorship from university faculty and government experts and deal with real-world security and intelligence issues. Project topics are developed by government actors and supported by real datasets and other resources. During the 10 weeks, students conduct research, participate in lectures and regular team development meetings in a shared workplace. The summer program concludes with several days of individual work in College Park, MD to discuss project findings with peers and visiting DOD/IC experts and to better describe how the work fits into the mission environment of government supporters.
The program is designed to facilitate discussions within groups, between groups and representatives of government sponsors. Employees attend weekly training sessions and regular team development meetings in a shared workspace (although some projects may require on-site work). Employees then attend final weekly interviews and assignments in person (with travel support).
